Ontario Place Forum, Toronto live recordings and venue details

The Ontario Place Forum (or just The Forum) was an outdoor venue with a rotating stage along Lake Ontario in Toronto. It had a seating capacity of 7,370 with some covered seating under a unique tent-like, metal framed, solid roof, and extra seating on the open surrounding, grassy hills.

Historic timeline

The Forum was one of the original Ontario Place attractions when the park opened in 1971, offering free shows.
The Forum was designed by architect Eberhard Zeidler (1926-2022) who also designed the Toronto Eaton Centre, and landscape architect Michael Hough (1928-2013) that founded the University of Toronto’s Landscape Architecture program in 1965
In 1976 the signature revolving stage was added - providing equal views all around the venue, and a tented roof provided some shelter.
After a riot by Teenage Head fans in 1980 (potentially a publicity stunt by their manager) harder rock acts were banned from the venue.
Despite protests at Toronto City Hall, the Forum was torn down at the end of the 1994 season to make way for a more conventional, larger venue, sponsored by a major brewery and concert promoter.
