Video description

This is the earliest Rheostatics recording I have in the archives. I don't know the exact date but Dave Bidini mentions at one point that their single will be released in a couple of weeks. Based on the fact that the single was recorded in Spring of 1982 (not sure when it was actually released), and Dave Crosby was still in the band (he was not but the time they played their first out of town show at the Kent Hotel in Waterloo on July 28 1982) means this show predates the Kent Hotel. This was a CFNY/FM New Music Search event and the intro is Tim Keele. Here are a few things of note: 1. It is the only recording I have of David Crosby performing live with the band on keyboards. 2. Despite being very early in their career they were an extremely tight band 3. Their New Wave/XTC leanings are heavily prevalent at this stage 4. The song Elevator would be transplanted 12 years later into the song Me and Stupid from Introducing Happiness after the line “They played original New Wave Rock” Performers: Dave Bidini Dave Clark David Crosby Tim Vesely
