One of the NHL Original Six indoor hockey arenas, the Montreal Forum (or Forum de Montréal in French) has a long history, not only for sporting events, but also for musical performances
Historic timeline
- The Montreal Forum opened on November 29th, 1924 to host to Montreal Maroons NHL team. It was built on the location of a previous roller skating rink, also called the Forum.
- It was primarily a hockey arena, one of the Original Six indoor NHL areas, but also hosted ice shows and big band performances.
- The first significant rock concert came on September 8th, 1964 when the Beatles had two shows there (4pm and 8:30pm) as part of their first North American tour.
- One of the last major rock concerts at the Forum was AC/DC performing on March 21st, 1996.
