Lee's Palace, Toronto live recordings and venue details

Originally a silent film theatre in the late 1910's, the building along Bloor Street west in the heart of The Annex has been home to entertainment for generations.

It has supported Canadian artists like The Tragically Hip, and Blue Rodeo, as well as up and coming stars early in their careers like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers (December 1986).

Historic timeline

The building was built in 1919 as Allen's Bloor Theatre
It closed as a movie theatre in the 1950's.
From 1967 to 1976 the space was used as the Blue Orchid with cabaret inspired by NYC's drag shows, incuding dinner theatre with burlesque and all-male cast shows, plus a hidden speakeasy bar and dance floor upstairs.
After the Blue Orchid the space was then used as the Oriental Palace - with dinner and dancing.
In the mid 1980's Chong Su Lee a.k.a. Mr. Lee purchased the building, and opened Lee's Palace on Thursday September 5th, 1985.
The very first live show at the new venue on its opening night was Handsome Ned, with Blue Rodeo performing the second live show there on September 19th, 1985.
