Le Spectrum de Montréal, Montreal live recordings and venue details
The Spectrum (French: Le Spectrum de Montréal) was a concert hall in downtown Montreal that closed on August 5th, 2007. It had a capacity of about 1,200 people and a "cabaret" setup with table service. A unique effect was the wall mounted lighting which included hundreds of small lightbulbs.
Historic timeline
- The space first opened on October 17th, 1952 as Cinéma Alouette (1952-70)
- It was then renamed a number of times: Théâtre Alouette (1970-74), Théâtre Pigalle (1974-76), Cinéma Carrefour (1976-80)
- Then between 1980 and 1982 it was operated as Club Montréal
- It operated as the Spectrum for 25 years from 1982 through 2007
- The final concert was performed by Michel Rivard on August 5th, 2007, who played over 100 shows at the venue over the years. The building itself was demolished in October 2008.
