More details

One of the most iconic hearses in a movie appeared in the 1971 romantic black comedy-drama Harold and Maude. Young, rich, and obsessed with death, the character Harold has his 1967 Jaguar E-Type turned into a hearse.

The original hearse conversion car used in the movie was destroyed during the filming, with some disagreement over what car was used. Earlier in the movie the original car seems to be a 1971 Series 2. Once the car is converted it appears to be based on an earlier 1967 Series 1 fixed head coupe (FHC) or SWB coupe car based on the window opening. Either way, the interior of the hearse was largely unfinished.
