In the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) the three main characters take Cameron Frye's father's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder into downtown Chicago for the day, and famously then try to back the miles off the car after their adventures.

Using the real car would be prohibitively expensive, so instead three replicas were built by Modena Design & Development for the film, powered by Ford V8 engines.

A real 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder is ultra-rare, open-top sports car with a 3.0-litre Colombo V12 engine and Pininfarina/Scaglietti styling. Currently the cars sell at over $20-million USD, with a 2025 sale reaching $25.3-million USD.
