Historic photos from around Wychwood Park, TorontoWychwood Park (west of Bathurst Street on the north side of Davenport) was founded as an artists colony in the late nineteenth century.Painter Marmaduke Matthews planned out the community with the backing of businessman Alexander Jardine. It was centred around Wychwood Park, with houses designed in the Ars and Crafts style by architect Arthur Edwin Whatmough. At the time Taddle Creek ran through the property, and it was damned to create the pond (the rest of the Creek has since been covered over).
