Historic photos from around Wellington Place, Toronto

Bounded by Bathurst, King, Spadina and Front streets, Wellington Place dates back to 1837 as a neighbourhood. Before that it was part of Fort York to the south. In 1833 the land was auctioned off, land was set aside for Victoria Square and Clarence Square, and houses were slowly built.

The city slowly grew up around the area, with the Loretto Abbey being the most distinctive building in the areas.
