Historic photos from around Sunnyside Park, TorontoSunnyside beach in Toronto's west end, south of High Park, has been a popular summer destination for generations, with formal plans drawn up by the Toronto Harbour Commission in the early 1910's.In 1922 the Sunnyside Amusement Park opened, with 7 rides, 9 games, and 10 food concessions. A year later a roller coaster was added, called the Sunnyside Flyer. A heated pool and Beaux-Arts changing structure was also built. The pool was known as The Tank - perhaps the largest pool when it was opened, holding up to 2,00 people. The amusement park closed in 1955, but the Sunnyside Pavilion and renamed Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool are still there, along the Martin Goodman Trail. Sunnyside Park details:
