Historic photos from around Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto

Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2000, Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto was opened on November 4, 1876. It was designed by landscape gardener H. A. Englehardt to include "winding paths and roads, irregularly shaped islets, panoramic perspectives, and monuments inserted in a naturalistic setting enriched by a wide variety of groves and trees."

The cemetery remains true to this vision, which now includes many wonderful trees, fountains, sculptures, and a wide variety of monuments. It includes the Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre as well as a Mausoleum. See the Wikipedia page for the long list of notable interments in the cemetery, including a Titanic survivor, the most decorated war hero in the history of Canada, the British Empire, & the Commonwealth of Nations, Glen Gould, Banting and Best, Timothy Eaton, William Lyon Mackenzie King, Foster Hewitt, and so on.
